Your Character Test

Restoring Standards and Strengthening Culture

Tueesday, October 13 | 1 pm Eastern (60 Minutes)

Regular training strengthens performance. When policy and daily practice align, you reduce risk and improve readiness.

Stepping into a leadership role often means inheriting more than a new title. Public safety leaders may also inherit standards that have shifted over time, expectations that are applied inconsistently or behaviors that have become part of the culture. How you respond to these moments can shape your credibility and effectiveness as a leader.

Join leadership expert and author Dave Anderson alongside public safety leaders Chief Mike Persley and Deputy Chief Jeff King for a candid discussion about the role character plays in restoring standards and guiding teams through change. The session will use scenario-based, real-world examples to explore how leaders can reset standards and address behaviors that have gone unchecked.

You’ll learn:

  • Understand how the Six Habits of Character can guide leaders through challenging decisions and conversations.
  • Apply character-based leadership principles to set clear expectations and strengthen accountability.
  • Navigate changing relationships, including the transition from peer to supervisor.
  • Reorient personnel and reset expectations when problematic behaviors have become normalized under previous leadership.
